Omnilux Blue Light Therapy
One of the latest weapons in the fight against acne.
What is it?
A facial treatment that uses pure blue light) one of the wavelengths that makes up white light) to destroy P.Acne bacteria on the skin. It doesn't expose the skin to harmful ultraviolet or infra-red light.
Who is it for?
Those with mild to moderate acne prone skin
How does it work?
The treatment is painless - a light panel is used to shine blue light onto the affected area. Unlike laser treatments it doesn't generate heat so it won't damage the skin or sebaceous glands. The treatment stimulates acne-causing bacteria to produce a substance that kills them and at the same time, encourages a healing response in the skin.
What are the benefits?
The beneficial effect of blue light on the skin was discovered by Dr Colin Whitehurst during experimental work on treating skin cancers. He found that when the blue light was directed on affected areas, the wavelength stimulated cells beneath the skin's surface without burning the skin.
